Dr. Susie Kuilan is a Military Police Colonel in the Army Reserve and currently serves as the Assistant Division Commander of the 102nd Division in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, which is responsible for the nationwide training of Engineers, Military Police, Chemical, Military Intelligence, Signal Corps, and Civil Affairs/Psychological Operations Soldiers. Her previous positions include the inaugural holder of the John Parker Chair for Reserve Component Studies at the US Army War College, Army Fellow for Chief of Staff of the Army’s Strategic Studies Group. She has served in multiple positions in the 102nd Division (Maneuver Support) as a Brigade Commander, Deputy Brigade Commander, Battalion Commander and Battalion Operations Officer. She deployed with the Logistics Civilian Augmentation Program Support Unit (LOGCAP) out of Fort Belvoir, Virginia to Camp Bucca, Iraq as the LOGCAP Support Officer.
As a civilian, Dr. Kuilan has held numerous instructor positions at various universities including Arkansas Tech University, University of Arkansas, and Northwestern State University (Louisiana). She has numerous publications primarily on southern literature and African-American literature.
Dr. Kuilan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications, a Master’s degree in English, a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College, and a Doctorate in English from Louisiana State University.
