Ms. Amanda Morrow-Jensen, Dean of the Terrorism and Counterterrorism Program at Henley-Putnam takes an in-depth look at how trade in intellectual property violations is used to launder proceeds from illicit black-market activity into the mainstream economy, thus providing income for terrorists and criminals alike. Ms. Morrow-Jensen discusses the relationship between grey market trade in intellectual property violations and terrorist or criminal income streams, reviews the changing financial landscape of criminal money-laundering and how advances in law enforcement have impacted illicit trade, and analyzes the opportunities in international law and regional agreements to link intellectual property rights protections to counter terrorist activities.
