Valerie Thompson has been teaching art history and humanities for seven years. She also helps design online art and culture courses for various universities. Thompson has exhibited art work in the Midwest region and previously worked for the two largest art museums in Kansas City, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the Kemper Museum for Contemporary Art. During her early career, she studied the transatlantic art perspective at Teikyo in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Thompson is currently a member of the Nelson-Atkins Museum Friends of Art society. Thompson earned her BFA in Studio Art from the University of Central Missouri, a MA in Art History from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a MS in Instructional Design and Technology from Kaplan University.
