Leland R. Erickson is a senior faculty member of Henley-Putnam University, having been involved with the university since its inception. He has studied military history, strategy, tactics, and leadership since childhood and has spent over 35 years investigating various conflicts in depth, particularly the lesser-known battles, campaigns, and wars of the Far East and the 20th century. Professor Erickson has also acted as a freelance historical researcher for various manufacturers and other interested parties and is a regular guest speaker at Bay Area events pertaining to Military History. His focus in both his research and public presentations places a particular emphasis on changing and emergent technologies and how they impacted the historical evolution of strategy, operations, tactics, and the outcomes of past conflicts.
An experienced historical researcher, Professor Erickson is currently authoring an ongoing series of articles for the World War One Historical Association’s publication World War One Illustrated covering various topics of that first truly global, industrialized conflict.
Professor Erickson is also an expert in commercial private security, with over thirteen years experience in private loss prevention including extensive experience in site safety inspections, security training, security administration and supervision. He is also a highly trained professional in customer service best practices, with experience interacting with public figures, foreign dignitaries, celebrities, and their staffs including Executive Protection details.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Psychology from San Jose State University in 1989. Minoring in Religious Studies, he has had a decades long interest in the nature and scope of millenarian religious movements, religious extremism, and the psychological process of radicalization.
Professor Erickson completed his master’s degree in Intelligence Management at Henley-Putnam University summa cum laude in 2015. He is a recipient of the H-PU University Excellence Award for outstanding academic achievement, and is a member of the Delta Tau Epsilon Honor Society.
