Mr. Wells exhibits outstanding engagement with online students and active participation across the University

(San Jose, CA, March 1st, 2012) – Henley-Putnam University is pleased to announce that the Faculty of the Year Award for 2011 is being given to Mr. Richard Wells.

Mr. Wells' award commends his "consistency, dedication to the University, and unrelenting pursuit of excellence in academic achievement and student learning."  As part of the rationale for selecting Mr. Wells, the Faculty of the Year Committee noted his strong and timely rapport with students, his active participation and service on several committees at the University, and outstanding engagement with students in the classroom.  Jim Killin, CEO of Henley-Putnam University, observed that "Mr. Wells takes a long-term view of his work as a faculty member, and understands where the small but important steps we are taking fit into the larger picture." 

Mr. Wells has an impressive strategic security career.  He spent the past 24 years working in the intelligence community, initially as an Intelligence Analyst and then as a Counterintelligence Specialist in the US Marine Corps. During that time he has served at tactical, strategic, special operations and joint commands.  He obtained real world experience during numerous deployments including Desert Storm and Somalia, as well as an assignment as the Counterintelligence/HUMINT Chief of the III Marine Expeditionary Force in Japan.  Prior assignments included I Marine Expeditionary Force, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Joint Special Operations Agency.
