Dr. Michael Corcoran and Mr. Ray O'Hara Tour the U.S. to Discuss Effective Workplace Violence Training Program

Henley-Putnam University Teams Up With Vance International to Produce Joint Program

San Jose, CA, April 7, 2008 ― Henley-Putnam University (www.henley-putnam.edu), a premier university for online higher education in the field of Strategic Security, has teamed up with Vance International, one of the most trusted investigation and security consulting firms in the world, to create an effective workplace violence training program for clients’ response personnel. Dr. Michael Corcoran, President of Henley-Putnam University, and Mr. Ray O’Hara, Senior Vice President at Vance International, will be touring the United States from April 8th-17th presenting day-long training seminars to security, human resource, media and legal representatives at key corporate locations.

Workplace violence has become a larger concern of late, mostly because of the apparent increase in violence in the post-secondary educational arena - once thought of as one place where this epidemic seemed to be of negligible concern. But with recent shootings at Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois, even those institutions are now desperately looking for appropriate answers to mitigate future problems. Hence, corporate America, which has always been aware of this problem but often put it on the back burner, is once again beginning to show concern. Corporate America recognizes it has a duty to its employees to provide a safe work environment while at the same time, recognize the sensitive issue of privacy and confidentiality of its workers.

"This is not a time to cut corners," announced Ray O'Hara. "Through this program, we intend to provide our clients with training on how to handle workplace violence situations. Knowing how to assess critical issues and facts has to be balanced with understanding elements of false information and confidentiality in a competent and expeditious manner. I have been in this business for over 25 years, and Henley-Putnam University is one of the preeminent workplace violence experts in this country, especially when it comes to the threat assessment aspects of violence."

"Fortune 500 clients will be expected to know exactly what to do when there is a potentially volatile situation at their company," said Dr. Corcoran. "I have worked with Vance International in the past, recognize their competence, and am honored to be included in this training process to insure their clients receive the most accurate and up-to-date training possible."

Cities included in the tour are:
