Bart Bechtel Promoted to Assistant Chief Academic Officer at Henley-Putnam University
San Jose, CA, April 3, 2008 ― Henley-Putnam University (www.henley-putnam.edu), a premier university for online higher education in the field of Strategic Security, is pleased to announce the promotion of Bart Bechtel to Assistant Chief Academic Officer, effective immediately. Bechtel’s new responsibilities include increasing university visibility to prospective students and the academic community, identifying opportunities for greater faculty exposure, and leading University efforts to produce category specific intellectual capital. Bart will also chair the University Leadership Committee. He will continue to teach courses in surveillance & countersurveillance, professional ethics, counterterrorism studies, and denial & deception among others.

Before his promotion, Bechtel served as Associate Dean of Students for Henley-Putnam University, where he advised students, launched and assisted the university mentoring program, assisted with creation of a University Code of Conduct and evaluated student-faculty satisfaction with the overall learning experience.
Prior to joining Henley-Putnam in 2005, Bechtel retired from the CIA in 1998 as a Clandestine Service and Counterintelligence Officer with more than 20 years of experience, where he was often placed on deep cover assignments. In addition, he was a lead instructor for the U.S. State Department’s anti-terrorism Surveillance Detection (SD) Team Training Program under contract with SAIC. He trained SD teams in Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, Macedonia, and Mexico.
Previously, Bechtel was a primary instructor in Terrorist/Criminal Threat Recognition, Observation Skills and Surveillance Detection for the all volunteer Washoe County, Nevada Sheriff’s Citizen Homeland Security Council. He is also a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, International Association for Intelligence Education, International Counterterrorism Officers Association, and a Lifetime Member of the National Ski Patrol.
Bechtel received his B.A. in History from Monterey Institute of International Studies and an M.S. in Intelligence Management from Henley-Putnam University. He is also a licensed private investigator in Florida and is the Director of Operations and Training for CTC International Group Ltd of West Palm Beach, FL.
