INT 410 Weapons Systems (4.5 quarter units)
Description
This course surveys the history and development of different categories of weapons and weapons systems. Additionally, it introduces the global arms market and provides identification strategies to determine origin of manufacture on the basis of markings, and other indicators. Students will learn to examine and recognize different classes, makes, and configurations of contemporary weapons. Emphasis is on armament utilized by criminal, terrorist, and light infantry military and paramilitary forces. Students will analyze how weapons capabilities influence tactics by comparison and contrasting doctrine from witnessed employment. Identification strategies for military vehicles, naval assets, and aircraft are also included but to a lesser degree.
