Bachelor of Science, Terrorism and Counterterrorism Studies

Program Description
The Bachelor’s Degree in Terrorism and Counterterrorism Studies is earned by satisfactory completion of an online program equivalent to two years of full time upper division study.   The program introduces the student to the basic concepts of terrorism and counterterrorism.  Presenting emphasis in understanding extremist, terrorists groups and their operations allows the student to appreciate the magnitude of the problem.  This degree also provides the counterterrorism training necessary to provide for necessary safety and protective measures against this enemy.   This program also provides a basis for the student’s study at more advanced levels.  All courses are four and a half credit hours unless otherwise noted.

Program Objectives
Graduates of this program will be able to:
  • Display a detailed knowledge of current terrorist organizations and ideologies, their methods, targets, support structures, and motives
  •  Conduct basic counterintelligence operations
  • Conduct basic counterterrorism operations
  • Plan and set up appropriate intelligence collection programs
  • Analyze and evaluate collected intelligence to identify terrorist threats
  • Develop, evaluate, and refine contingency planning for terrorist attacks
  •  Show an understanding of consequence management
